Newsletter 188: A Reflection on AI, Coffee, and Dyslexic Journeys

šŸ§ The Role of Storied in My Daily Creation

An Early Morning Welcome

Good morning, Early Risers and Innovators,

It's 5 AM, and as per my routine, I'm here with my first cup of coffee, ready to pour my thoughts onto the page. This is Matt Ivey, the voice behind Dyslexic.AI, sharing with you not just as the founder but as a fellow traveler on this unique journey of dyslexia and ADHD.

The Role of Storied in My Daily Creation

Today's reflection is special, and I thank Storied for their recognition of our work. For someone who is both dyslexic and ADHD, creating content can be a dance of chaos and creativity. While my ideas are abundant at this early hour, translating them into coherent posts for later publication is where the real challenge lies. Storied has been instrumental in this process, giving my thoughts structure and clarity.

Embracing Dyslexia and ADHD in Content Creation

While I may be known for creating content in these wee hours, the reality is that my posts donā€™t always go out at 5 AM. They are born in these quiet moments but are often refined and published later in the day. Although a little inconsistent, my ideas find their wings in this routine.

Storied: My Tool for Clarity and Coherence

Storied has been a revelation, particularly on days filled with complex, outside-the-box ideas. Itā€™s challenging to get these thoughts into words that resonate with both neurodivergent and neurotypical thinkers. Storied allows me to explore my ideas in multiple ways, distilling my spoken words into focused and meaningful content.

Extending the Impact of Storied into Personal Life

Navigating Life's Challenges with Storied

In the tapestry of life, each thread ā€“ be it work, personal passions, or complex life events like a divorce ā€“ contributes to the whole picture. In my personal journey, especially during the trying times of navigating a divorce, Storied has been more than just a tool for professional content creation; it has been a companion in expressing my deepest thoughts and emotions.

Transforming Emotion into Articulation

Dealing with divorce can often lead to a whirlwind of emotions, making it challenging to communicate thoughts effectively. Storied has provided a unique space to pour out these emotions without reservation. I find clarity in this unfiltered expression ā€“ Storied helps me reshape these raw emotions into coherent, articulate messages, stripping away the excess while retaining the core sentiments.

Channeling Passion into Clarity

Beyond the sphere of work, I have many hobbies and passions that I'm eager to share with others. However, my excitement often leads to lengthy explanations that can lose the listener. Here, Storied plays a crucial role. It allows me the freedom to express all my ideas in their original, unbridled form. Then, like an adept editor, it distills these thoughts into a succinct yet vibrant version ā€“ a clear, concise narrative that captures the essence of my excitement.

Crafting the 'Elevator Pitch' of My Ideas

One of the most significant advantages of using Storied has been its ability to help me formulate the 'elevator pitch' for my ideas. In both my personal and professional life, conveying a concept quickly and effectively is essential. Storied helps me refine my thoughts into a potent, impactful pitch, ensuring that the listener grasps the crux of my ideas without getting lost in the details.

A Tool for All Facets of Life

In conclusion, Storied has been instrumental in my role as the founder of Dyslexic.AI and in various aspects of my personal life. Whether itā€™s navigating through the emotional labyrinth of a divorce or sharing the joy of my hobbies with friends, Storied has been an invaluable asset in translating my thoughts into meaningful, understandable, and relatable communication.

In every chapter of life, having a tool that understands and adapts to your communication style can be transformative. Storied has been that tool for me, helping to bridge the gap between thought and expression.

Closing Thoughts: A Journey of Discovery and Sharing

Reflecting on the Journey Ahead

I am grateful for having Storied as part of my toolkit as I navigate the multifaceted journey of life. It serves as a reminder that even the most complex emotions and ideas can find clarity and resonance with the right support.

As I finish my coffee and prepare for the day ahead, I reflect on how tools like Storied have transformed my content creation process. They are not just tools, but companions on this journey of expression and discovery.

To each of you who joins me in embracing these early hours for creativity or finds your flow at a different time, know that our paths are unique but equally enriching. Letā€™s continue to explore and share, making our mark in the world with every word and idea we craft.

With gratitude and a dash of early-morning creativity,

Matt Ivey

Founder, Dyslexic.AI

Spotlight Feature: Storied's Shoutout to Dyslexic.AI

In a recent humbling and inspiring communication, Storied showcased our journey at Dyslexic.AI. Their email highlights our collaborative efforts and beautifully encapsulates the essence of our mission. Below is the content of their message, a testament to the impact of AI in reshaping the narrative of dyslexia:

Early on, when we had hundreds of creators, a few of them stood out. The power law. Matt Ivey was number one. In the first thousand one pagers that were created, he wrote 6% of the words.

Mattā€™s the founder of Dyslexic.ai.

Heā€™s on a mission to help dyslexics improve their lives with modern AI tools; chatGPT, Storied, Otter.ai, Grammarly, Midjourney, and so on.

He writes a weekly newsletter that serves over 1,000 people per day.

Matt has never called himself a writer.

But heā€™s doing what all visionary leaders do before they become visionary leaders; building his support system.

Steve Jobs had Wozniak.

Richard Branson had Nik Powell, when they started Virgin Records.

Paul Orfalea and his Kinkoā€™s team.

Unlike Jobs, Branson, or Paul who all discovered human partners, Matt has created a cyborg support system that makes him productive in ways he never dreamed.

I met Matt online.

He shared his heroic story.

Working remotely and being a stay-at-home dad, Matt's primary interaction with his team was through written mediums, which weren't his strength. This led him to fade into the background in team interactions. He needed a new kind of support system.

Initially, Matt resisted AI solutions. After all, the early LLM breakthroughs of 2022 were text (i.e. writing). And not only was writing not Mattā€™s strength, it was actually a bit of a nemesis.

But modern AI isnā€™t just about text. Itā€™s multimodal. Itā€™s also about audio.

When Matt encountered our tool, his reaction was nothing short of an epiphany. "Holy shit!" he exclaimed, recognizing the potential of Storied to transcend.

Matt has written about his morning ā€œwritingā€ routine. ā€œI wake up in the morning, pour a big cup of coffee, sit down and start talking.ā€ He says the Storied approach allows him to move at his own pace:

ā€˜Unlike other apps, Storied allows me to pause my thought process and pick up right where I left off, enhancing flexibility.ā€™

If heā€™s creating todayā€™s newsletter issue, he doesnā€™t hold back. Heā€™s got a mind full of ideas. Heā€™s living in the flow. Straight transcription would be a problem. The newsletter would be too verbose. But Storiedā€™s AI helps Matt boil it down to what matters most.

ā€˜The app aids in distilling my ideas, making them more concise and impactful.ā€™
ā€˜It ensures my messages are straightforward, saving the receiver from wading through unnecessary details.ā€™

To support Matt in his mission; you can connect with Matt on LinkedIn or subscribe to his newsletter here.

Matt's evolution from AI skeptic to newsletter ninja showcases his heroic journey, with Storied acting as his trusted guide. It's not just an app; it's a tool that amplifies Matt's innate leadership.

So, whatā€™s next?

Matt initially set out to write a weekly newsletter and ended up writing a daily one. Heā€™s on his 182nd issue. The ability to unlock that kind of potential is unbelievable. As he crafts his 183rd newsletter, Matt stands as a beacon for visionaries, proving that with the right support systemā€”even one as unique as a cyborg ensembleā€”anyone can redefine their limits and shape their future.
