Newsletter 116: Harnessing Anxiety and Embracing Positivity - A Happy Friday Morning Cup of Coffee with Matt Ivey

Happy Friday, everyone! As I sit here with my cup of coffee, I find myself reflecting on the wonderful week that's been. Today, I want to continue our conversation from the last newsletter, focusing on a topic that's close to my heart - anxiety, and how we can turn it into a positive force.

The Anxiety of Communication

As someone who identifies as dyslexic and neurodivergent, I've always found typing to be a significant challenge. It's not just the act of typing itself, but the anxiety that comes with it. The anxiety of communicating with others without being able to talk my thoughts out in front of them, in person, which is how I prefer to communicate.

Turning Anxiety into a Positive Force

This anxiety has been a constant companion, and it took me until my forties to truly understand it. It's been a tough journey, but understanding this about myself has been a crucial step in my personal and professional growth.

One of the positives that emerged from this journey is finding someone who could coach me through this anxiety, my ADHD, dyslexia, and neurodivergent thinking. Having a coach helped me understand myself better and turn my anxiety into a positive force.

The Connection Between Athletics and Anxiety

In one of our first editions, I discussed my connection with athletics and how it helped me manage my anxiety. I used to thrive off the anxiety of putting myself in situations where your tummy turns a little bit. That anxiety and anticipation, I harnessed it into a good physical outlet - athletics.

Now, as an adult competing in entrepreneurship and the business world, I've had to find a new way to channel this anxiety.

Using My Coaching Experience to Help Others

This experience inspired me to use my lifetime of coaching experience to help others like myself. I want to coach dyslexic business entrepreneurs and professionals to be more efficient by harnessing tools such as AI, in the same way that I have.

By sharing my journey and the strategies that have worked for me, I hope to empower others to turn their challenges into strengths and achieve their goals.

Wrapping Up

So, there you have it. A little insight into my journey with anxiety and how I've turned it into a positive force. Whether you're neurodivergent or neurotypical, I hope this sparks some reflection and conversation. After all, it's through sharing our stories that we learn, grow, and find ways to navigate our unique paths.

As we wrap up this week, I hope you all have a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend. Get out for some kind of athletic adventure, and remember, every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Keep embracing your unique selves, your unique challenges, and your unique journeys.

Here’s to a great weekend!
